With Ambassador Ernesto M. Maceda as Special Guest, AIM will hold its annual potluck Family Picnic on Saturday, September 30 at the  Knights of Columbus Club house (behind St. Leo's church) 3702 Old Lee Highway , Fairfax, VA Tel. No. 703-385-8007.

Let's spend the day relaxing, eating, catching up with our friends and colleagues as well as other news of interest to all.

For now, simply mark your calendars! As the preparation goes into full swing, we will share the details with you.

Be creative. Think of a delicious, hard to forget food dish aimed to tickle one's palate and be ready to generously share the recipe!

" On Wings of Song " to Visit Washington, DC on Friday, November 17, 2000

In what has been billed as "the Show stopper of the year", the Philippine Musical Theater Foundation's "On Wings of Song" a 12-member singing Group headed by Fides Cuyugan Asensio, opera star, radio talk show and professor music emeritus at the University of the Philippines, will give a one-day only performance at the F building auditorium of the World Bank, 2121 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC. Co-hosting this event are The Association of Ilonggos of Metropolitan Washington, DC, Inc. (AIM), Philippine Women's University Alumni Association (PWUA), Tanghalang Pilipino (TP), University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA), World Bank Group Filpino Association. Before joining the Music Theatre Foundation, the Singers have, once upon a time, been members of the U.P. Madrigal Singers that practically captured all the prizes around Europe and Southeast Asia.

Memorable arias from best-loved operas, broadway show tune stoppers, Filipino regional and Rap, are part of the Group's repertoire.

Donations are at: $100 (Patrons); $75 (Sponsors); $50 (Benefactors); $15 (General Admission) which are deductible to the full extent allowable by law.

More detailed information will be posted as soon as they are available.

Incidentally, Fides is married to Baby Asensio, an Ilonggo from Jaro, Iloilo City.

Plan ahead; set aside this date: Friday, November 17, 2000. The program will start at 7pm. A much welcome TGIF treat!
